Between 1988-1989, she worked for one year at London Moorfields Eye Hospital Cornea Department in England. After specialization, she received advanced specialization training in ocular immunological diseases and uveitis at Johns Hopkins University Wilmer Eye Institute Cornea and Refractive Surgery Department (1991-1992) and Harvard University Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (1992-1993) in the USA.
Between 1990-1997, she worked at Ankara Training and Research Hospital Cornea Department. She became Associate Professor of Ophthalmology in 1994. From 1997 to 2012, she served as a faculty member at Baskent University Faculty of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology. She received her Professor title in 2000. Between 2003-2011, she served as Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the same institution.
She received TUBITAK Post-Doctoral Fellowship (1991-1992), Eczacibasi Research Award (1995), and American Academy of Ophthalmology "Achievement Award" (2011). Between 2012-2015, she participated as an "examiner" in European Ophthalmology Board exams, and in 2015, she received the Fellow of European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) title.
