Bülent Ertuğrul is a highly distinguished Professor in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology whose graduation from Anadolu Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi (1993), infectious diseases residency at İstanbul Üniversitesi İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi (2003), visiting faculty positions at Oxford University Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre Bone Infections Unit UK (2015) and Zürich University Balgrist University Hospital Switzerland (2019), achievement of Professor title in 2017.
Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul graduated from Anadolu Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi in 1993. He completed his Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology residency at İstanbul Üniversitesi İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi İnfeksiyon Hastalıkları ve Klinik Mikrobiyoloji Anabilim Dalı in 2003.
Following residency, he briefly served as Laboratory Director at Özel İstanbul Medicine Hospital Microbiology Laboratory before joining academic medicine. In 2004, he was appointed to specialist position at Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi İnfeksiyon Hastalıkları ve Klinik Mikrobiyoloji Anabilim Dalı. He progressed: Assistant Associate Professor 2007, Associate Professor 2012, Professor 2017.
In 2015, he was invited as visiting faculty to Oxford University Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre Bone Infections Unit in UK for 1 month. In 2019, he was invited to Zürich University Balgrist University Hospital in Switzerland for 1 month.
