About Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kübra Şerefoğlu Çabuk

Doç. Dr. Kübra Şerefoğlu Çabuk is an Associate Professor in Ophthalmology whose graduation from İstanbul Üniversitesi İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi, completion of ophthalmology specialty training at Vakıf Gureba Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi (2006-2010) under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Şafak Karslıoğlu who is a pioneer of oculoplastic surgery in Turkey, achievement of Associate Professor (Doçent Doktor) title, attainment of prestigious international certifications including MRCSEd (Member of Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh) and FEBO (Fellow of European Board of Ophthalmology), authorship of 15+ scientific publications in international journals including International Ophthalmology, Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, and European Journal of Ophthalmology, and service as Head of Oculoplastic Surgery Unit at Beyoğlu Göz Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi (2021-2023) establish her as a highly accomplished ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery specialist excelling in eyelid aesthetics, orbital surgery, and reconstructive procedures.

Early Inspiration and Education

Dr. Şerefoğlu Çabuk's interest in ophthalmology began in childhood, inspired by her father Op. Dr. Mahmut Nedim Şerefoğlu, an ophthalmologist. During her medical education at Istanbul Medical Faculty, she pursued her passion for art by training with renowned Turkish artists Atilla Önengüt and Reza Hemmatirad, developing an aesthetic sensibility that now inspires her oculoplastic surgery work. Her specialty training in ophthalmology led her to focus on oculoplastic surgery, receiving comprehensive training under Prof. Dr. Şafak Karslıoğlu at Vakıf Gureba Hospital.

Professional Career

Following mandatory state service, Dr. Şerefoğlu Çabuk served as Başasistan (Senior Assistant) at Bağcılar Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi (2014-2016), conducting multidisciplinary work in oculoplasty and orbital surgery. In 2018, she joined Beyoğlu Göz Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Muhittin Taşkapılı, working at this tertiary reference hospital where she significantly advanced her expertise and published numerous research articles with colleagues. During this intensive period, she earned her Ophthalmology European Board diploma (FEBO), Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh membership (MRCSEd), and Associate Professor (Doçent Doktor) title.

Leadership and Current Practice

From 2021, she assumed responsibility as Head of the Oculoplastic Surgery Unit at Beyoğlu Göz Hastanesi. In 2023, she transferred to Başakşehir Çam ve Sakura Şehir Hastanesi, one of Turkey's important reference hospitals, where she diagnosed and treated many complex and specific diseases with her specialist team. Her clinical expertise encompasses eyelid aesthetics, revision eyelid surgeries for patients with prior surgical complications, eyebrow lifting, fox eye and cat eye procedures, revision lacrimal duct surgeries, congenital and acquired nasolacrimal duct obstructions, congenital eyelid anomalies, periocular tumors, anophthalmic socket management, eyelid trauma reconstruction, orbital inflammatory disease, eyelid malpositions (entropion, ectropion, upper lid retraction), ptosis, brow ptosis, thyroid ophthalmopathy, orbital diseases, orbital trauma reconstruction, cataract surgery with smart lens implantation, excimer laser, and glaucoma treatment.

In September 2024, Dr. Şerefoğlu Çabuk opened her private practice at Ataköy Towers in Istanbul to provide dedicated time and personalized care to her patients, combining her artistic sensibility with surgical precision to achieve natural and balanced aesthetic results alongside functional improvement. She is fluent in Turkish and English with full professional proficiency.
