Prof. Dr. Kamil Yazıcıoğlu is a Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Born in 1963 in Balikesir, he graduated from Kuleli Military High School in 1977 and GATA Military Medical Faculty in 1987. He became a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist in 1994, Associate Professor in 1999, and Professor in 2005. He served as Chief of GATA TSK Rehabilitation and Care Center from 2000 to 2015. He is the founder of amputee football in Turkey, former President of World Amputee Football Federation, and Founder President of TSK Rehabilitation Center Disabled Sports Club. He is a faculty member at METU Social Policy Department. Expert in interventional pain management, ozone therapy, kinesio taping, manual therapy, musculoskeletal pain, orthopedic rehabilitation, spinal cord injuries, and amputee rehabilitation.
Prof. Dr. Kamil Yazicioglu served as a physician, administrator, and faculty member at GATA TSK Rehabilitation and Care Center from 1999 when he became an Associate Professor until his voluntary retirement in 2015. He was involved in all milestones such as the project design, foundation laying, commissioning, organization, and establishment of corporate identity of the center. He was responsible for the prosthetics and orthotics workshop where the most modern prostheses were made for veterans. He was the chief of the Amputee Rehabilitation clinic. He introduced amputee football to Turkey. Together with District National Education Directorates and Public Education Centers, they developed vocational training and occupational therapy courses for veterans, disabled people and their families.
His private sector experience, which started part-time at Guven Hospital in 2007, continued until 2021 after he retired from GATA in 2015. Since July 26, 2021, he has been continuing his service in his own private practice. He is a faculty member at Istanbul Ayvansaray University Faculty of Sport Sciences. He teaches disability and social policy, health and social policy courses at METU Social Policy Department. His areas of interest are interventional procedures for pain treatment, ozone therapy, kinesio taping, manual therapy, musculoskeletal pain, orthopedic rehabilitation, spinal cord injuries and amputee rehabilitation.
