Prof. Dr. Ercan Lütfi Gürses was born in Isparta. He graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Medical Faculty and became an Anesthesiology Specialist in 1998.

He started working as a specialist at Pamukkale University Medical Faculty Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation in 1998. He became a Lecturer in 1999, Assistant Associate Professor in 2000, and Associate Professor in 2007. He worked on the treatment of acute and chronic pain patients from 2000 onwards.

After receiving his Algology Specialty diploma in 2013, he founded the Algology Department and became a Professor in 2014. He served as the Pamukkale University Medical Faculty Algology Department Chairman until October 16, 2019.
