He fulfilled his compulsory service at Nurhak District State Hospital in Kahramanmaraş as an emergency physician, then continued working as a family physician. Dr. Kalkan gained valuable experience working in a private hospital's emergency department and neonatal intensive care unit in Adana, as well as serving as an occupational physician for various businesses.
In 2020, he achieved a placement in the Medical Specialization Examination for Çukurova University Orthopedics and Traumatology Department and began his residency as a research assistant doctor. However, after some time, he decided that he did not want to pursue this specialty and resigned.
